This is Des' journal! There might be things here that might interest you. I sincerely doubt it.

Look at me trying to test things out. Entry text text text

eugh brain why

Step One) Quietly shelve (for now) your fantasy exploration game until certain elements work themselves out.

Step Two) Start to work on your funsies dungeon crawl game.

Step Three) Have an errant thought about mechanics.

Step Four) Realize that mechanic doesn't work for said funsies dungeon crawl game. But it DOES work for magical girl game that you shelved previously.

Step Five) Sigh and pull magical girl game off the high shelf and quietly work on both. Again.

I like how my journal is nothing but informal polls

So somewhat tied to my last question, but not exactly:

But would you (hello you!) be interested in a game based in the world of the Black Jewels books? Canon knowledge isn't necessary - in fact canons would somewhat be discouraged as a game would take place far outside of the series timeline. So fandom setting, original characters - a go or not a go?

Secondly for people who are canon blind to the series, would playing in a dark fantasy setting that is an existing universe that you don't know be too much and a turn off or would you be game to read world info pages?

Thirdly, and this is both for this poll and the game I was thinking of last poll: Big plotty game, yay or nay? Sandboxes are great but I am feeling like I want something with more stucture. Certainly player plots are always welcome and encouraged and would nudge and shape the game plot, but in general, plotty games yes? Plotty games no?

talking aloud

/blows off dust

okay so like

out of curiosity to anyone still left on my f-list

when is the best time to run a game? like say I had a year long game (could be truncated to 6 months I suppose) I wanted to run, when would be the best time to run it so that theroetically players would be free at the beginning at the end.

obvs the answer is that you want players ACTIVE AT ALL TIMES or at least ACTIVE FOR MORE THAN JUST THE START AND FINISH but let's be realistic and figure a plotty game should have at least people active at the end to do wrap up.

hypothetically speaking, of course.

I'm just

going to lie here in a heap and continue to be emotionally compromised by a video game franchise.

Thanks, Bioware.

Do I always want to play characters from rando or non existent fandoms.

ah it's that time of the year

June, where Des goes through her random, unexplainable, series of massive insomnia. I could say that I've learned to love when I go on 40 hour stints of no sleep but I don't. And apparently when I do crash hard enough to get some hours of bliss, I dream of zombies. Blech.

Of course this sets my mind going on things. INFORMAL POLL TIME: If say someone and a friend were thinking of a game, say with... fantasy with an exploration premise (think LOST island mysteries with magic), running to about a year, end goal and meta plot but played loosely as to not interfere terrible with individual character/player lots, starting maybe in the fall, would you be down?

I KNOW I KNOW I said silver millennium game first and I wanted to but eugh, I'm still so, so bitter about losing two weeks of notes on it. I'm waiting to see if the anime will help push me back to it or perhaps something with a different setting like Crystal Tokyo. BUT IN THE MEAN TIME. FANTASY GAME? Y/N?

That horrific moment

When you realize all your planning notes were IM conversations on a webservice that left you high and dry and dumped all your saved conversations.

argh dragon aaaage

I'm awash with games I want to start and fandoms I want to play in. Send help.

My list of accounts on the verge of being purged is neverending. I'm going to be logging in for years.

[No Subject]

Today I thought I was going to be productive and work and do cute little cast pages with gifs of all my characters.

Then remembered I use weirdly obscure PBs for a few of them.

Sigh sigh sigh.

Just an informal poll

Buuuuuut would there be any interest in a year long Sailor Moon game? I'm thinking about a year life-span, starting this summer, and essentially focusing on the last days of the silver millennium (aka going to end it when rocks fall and everyone dies and gets their little planetary souls sent off for reincarnation).

Just thinking aloud and poking at my graveyard of old game ideas.

Lost all of my ij files on my host, recently, and it killed my layout. I probably should make another one but eughhhhh. This will have to do. And it is quite lovely, it just reminds me of a sailor moon game I almost did. Ah well.

because I'm just BRIMMING with free time

I am doing NaNo this year. Pet me on the head and tell me I'll be okay.

pesky browser compatibility and bad taste

It's fascinating when I think about how much I ended up working on this layout. And still, to hate it so very much.

Then again it's almost 2am so I am bound to hate pretty much anything right now. Hate and spontaneously ebay shop.

I need to update these character lists. But the layout. The layout. Eugh.

ETA: And, because all the cool kids are doing it, I shall steal their meme.
veritaserum me (or my characters)! ask anything, about anything (probably rp-related, but if you have any personal questions, go for it) and i will answer truthfully.
